Good guide for Ghostbuster fans! December 16, 2009 Brad Luterbach This guide will get it done for you Ghostbuster fans out there. I got the guide used and shipped for under $8.00. I would never pay $20.00 for any guide so try to find this great guide slightly used for a good value.
Helpful, but has some mistakes November 12, 2009 Braden Pickering (Maricopa, AZ) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm just a casual gamer and generally suck pretty bad at these kinds of games, so it's only natural that I pick up a guide to help me conquer Ghostbusters. And it was pretty helpful as far as revealing the locations of all the Cursed Artifacts you need to pick up and what sort of arsenal attacks are most appropriate for defeating the different enemies you'll encounter, but I also found out the hard way that there were several mistakes printed as well. I noticed a few instances where they say "go right" when they should have meant "go left," and vice versa. Certain tips would negate the directions just given, and would cause you to waste time backtracking and running around in circles; I found the Lost Island level particularly difficult to navigate while using this guidebook. On a less frustrating note, they provide a list of ghosts before every level that you're supposed to find so you can "scan" them and add them to your Sprit Guide, but some of these are also incorrect. On level one I spent about an hour looking for the Ectoplasimic Residue that wouldn't even exist for another two or three levels!
Did these fallbacks ruin my entire experience of the game? No; it was still pretty fun. But there's a certain point where you gotta wonder what the editors got paid to do since they obviously weren't looking over this book very carefully. I'd almost recommend playing the game all the way through once on your own to get a feel for it, just using instinct and the in-game cues, then maybe going back with the help of a walkhru to pick up everything you missed the first time around. And even then, it's probably better to get it second-hand - definitely not worth retail.
FYI: This book is actually two guides in one. The first half covers the PS3 and Xbox versions of Ghostbusters, and the 2nd half covers PS2 and Wii. My experience was with PS3, so I can't comment on the helpfulness of this book in relation to other platforms.
